Calp Town Council attended the 16th edition of the Salon du Randonneur in Lyon, a reference fair in France for hikers and hiking enthusiasts.
It is a consolidated exhibition among the French public, who are very fond of this sport, the most practised in the country. According to the French Federation of Hikers, hiking in France has more than 27 million enthusiasts, which is practised by 56 percent of French adults.
Calp is attending this fair for the first time as part of the project to deseasonalise the tourist offer. And it does so with its own stand through Tourespaña in order to publicise its wide range of active tourism all year round, especially hiking and cycle routes.
The fair, which has more than 480 exhibitors, is expected to receive around 15,000 visitors over its three-day duration, including the general public, hiking associations (very popular in France), professionals from the sector, specialised press and travel agencies.
Calp is one of the few Spanish destinations represented in Lyon and so far we have seen an influx of visitors of all ages, families and with ecological awareness who appreciate both the local gastronomic offer and the opportunity to combine water sports with the natural routes of the interior.
"We are delighted to represent Calp at the Salon du Randonneur. Our town is a paradise for hiking lovers, we hope to offer inspiration and advice to all nature lovers and potential French visitors", said the Councillor for International Promotion Marco Bittner, who was accompanied by the Councillor for Tourism Planning Mireia Ripoll.
