The first researcher to seriously work on Ifach was the Altea academic F. Martínez y Martínez, who in 1928, together with the German professors Adolf Schulten and Otto Jessen, prospected the slopes of Ifach.

Subsequently to this work, we only find the study by Professor Antonio García y Bellido, citing the appearance of Attic and Campanian ceramics and dating them to the 5th century BC.

Subsequently, Father José Belda Domínguez worked on the Rock between 1962 and 1964, drawing up a plan of his work and recovering a large number of pieces, especially from the Iberian period, some of which are on display here.

In 1975, with the knowledge of these works, Carmen Aranegui, a professor at the University of Valencia, began the first excavations with a systematic methodology that until the beginning of our project had been carried out on the different settlements on the slopes of Ifach, discovering structures, pavements and abundant archaeological material that placed the discovery in what was most likely a late Roman settlement between the 3rd and 6th century AD.
